OUR LEGACY
ESTABLISHED IN 1999
O'Tool Design Custom Tattoo opened our doors back in August of 1999. Some of our greatest memories are still from that time, and so much has changed since then. In recent times, the tattoo industry has grown so large that's almost difficult to express just how different things were when we first started. Not only was tattooing disrespected by the establishment, but there were no cell phones and no tattooing on tv like we have now. Tattooing was a taboo underground art form, still yet to be respected. It was a very exciting time to be in the industry, when anything seemed possible as the popularity of tattoos exploded over the years. It really meant something to be a part of that scene; it meant to be different, and to be as unique and one of a kind as you could.
When we first started, there were less than a handful of shops in the Quad Cities and we were the younger generation of tattooing. We helped pioneer what would become the modern tattoo movement because we wanted to be different. Tattooing has always had negative connotations associated to it, and we wanted to show the world that it didn't have to be that way. We've all walked into a tattoo shop and felt out of place, maybe even intimidated, and that was a feeling that we wanted to do away with. We wanted our shop to be inviting and a place where anybody would feel welcome, regardless of who they are. We set out on a mission to be the cleanest, friendliest, and most professional shop the Quad Cities had ever had.
Times change, but things remain the same at O'Tool. We're still dedicated to providing a clean and professional tattoo shop that welcomes everyone, we're still dead set on creating awesome personalized pieces at a fair price, and Ron and Wind are still tattooing.
